Hemp Protein Waffles with Cacao Powder– another healthy option for breakfast on the weekends!
Actually, this is also low calorie healthy recipe because instead of sugar I used bananas thus giving it some sweetness. However, if you’re craving sweeter waffles, you can make a sauce with berries and agave syrup.
Ingredients for 2 mid-sized portions:
70 g wholegrain oat flakes
40 g hemp protein
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. potato starch
1 tbsp. cocoa powder
120 g banana (one mid-sized banana)
200 ml water (or oat milk; please note that the nutritional facts below are calculated with water in the recipe)
Instruction:
Ground up the oat flakes in a coffee grinder, then mix it with the hemp protein and the rest of the dry ingredients. Add water and mix until you get a uniform mass. Then, add grated banana.
Leave the mass to rest for 4-5 minutes; meanwhile you can pre-heat the waffle pan. A single waffle is cooked for 4-5 minutes (as mentioned in my previous posts, egg-free waffles need to be cooked twice as long as traditional waffles). Bon appétit!
