Healthy fitness plant based waffles – perfect for fitness lovers – they contain pea protein and oat flakes, which are a source of both carbohydrates (energy) and protein.
These waffles make for perfect breakfast to those choosing a healthy lifestyle!
This is no standard recipe with 5 eggs and a bunch of sugar – instead I’ve opted for healthier ingredients.
Let’s get started!
Ingredients per 1 large portion:
25 g pea protein
50 g wholegrain oat flakes
1/2 banana (if you’re following an egg-free diet), or 1 egg
About 100 g oat milk
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. stevia
Ground up the oat flakes; mix with pea protein, baking powder and stevia. Mince the banana and mix with the oat milk; then add the mix to the dry ingredients. Stir until you’ve achieved even dough. Leave for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, pre-heat the waffle iron. Fry the dough for 5-6 minutes.
My waffle iron can cook two waffles at once, and I got 3 huge waffles from the dough.
If you wish to make two portions, I suggest making separate doughs instead of doubling the recipe. Why? Because oftentimes simply doubling the recipe does not give the necessary results, so I recommend sticking to the single-serving approach.
Serve the waffles with berries, bananas, or sweet dressings (for instance, minced banana with strawberries and a bit of oat milk).
