This buckwheat flake porridge with sea buckthorn is a great morning vitamin and energy boost! It’s also recommended for a pre-workout breakfast.
Sea buckthorn is especially healthy in the fall and winter since it contains many types of vitamins, including a lot of vitamin C, and boosts the immune system.
Sea buckthorn only contains 25 calories per every 100 grams! It is also rich in vitamin C – over 300% of the daily recommended dose, which essentially means that consuming even less than 50 grams of sea buckthorn will give you the daily necessary amount of this precious vitamin. Sea buckthorn also contains a lot of iron, with only 100 grams of it exceeding the daily recommended dose. It’s jam-packed with vitamins, isn’t it?
And now on the making of the buckwheat breakfast porridge:
Ingredients:
40 g buckwheat flakes
50 g frozen sea buckthorn
1 small banana
Cinnamon
Coconut flakes
Instructions:
Boil some water and pour it over the buckwheat – just enough to cover the mass. Place a plate over it, and leave to soak for 5 minutes. You can meanwhile cut the banana in slices and take the sea buckthorn out of the freezer so that it can get a little bit defrosted.
After the 5 minutes are up and the water has soaked into the buckwheat, add the banana slices, sea buckthorn and coconut flakes. Mix if needed and the healthy breakfast porridge is ready! Enjoy the morning dose of energy!
